Introduction
Have you heard about Reiki but are unsure of what it is or what it can do for you? Reiki is an energy healing technique that promotes relaxation, reduces stress and anxiety through gentle touch. Reiki practitioners use their hands to deliver energy to your body, improving the flow and balance of your energy to support healing.
Mikao Usui developed reiki in the early 1900s, deriving the term from the Japanese words, "rei," meaning “universal,” and "ki," which refers to the vital life force energy that flows through all living things. Now, reiki is used all over the world, including in hospitals and hospices, to complement other forms of health treatments.

What to expect during your session?
Your Reiki practitioner will have you come in and lay down on their table. No need for clothing removal. You then set an intention for what you would like to have accomplished during your session. This could be stress relief, pain relief, reduction of anxiety or simply overall wellness. This is individual to you. Once settled, your practitioner will assess your energy by "hovering" their hands over your body. They may stay in one area as long as 5 minutes if the need for healing is apparent. This is performed from head to toe.
What might you feel?
This experience differs with each individual. Most say they feel warmth coming from the practitioner's hands. Some see colors and others say they didn't feel much at all. This does not mean the Reiki did not work.
It isn't uncommon to fall asleep during a session. Reiki is extremely calming. All you need to do is lay back and relax.
How long does it last?
Again, everyone is different. Some get results immediately and only need one session. Others might feel something the next day and it lasts for weeks. It is always good to come back for a "Reiki Tuneup" when you start feeling symptoms return.
